Operational Systems

Laravel that holds up in production.

New builds, architecture, and rescuing messy or AI-generated codebases - Laravel systems made reliable, maintainable, and safe to change. Production Laravel since 2013.

The pain

What this usually looks like.

  • The app mostly works, but every change risks a regression nobody saw coming.
  • It is technically Laravel, but the codebase has drifted into something nobody enjoys touching.
  • A founder or an AI tool built it fast - it shipped, and now it is load-bearing and fragile.
  • Performance and security gaps are starting to show as usage grows.
  • New features take far longer than they should because of accumulated technical debt.

What I build

Concrete deliverables.

  • New Laravel applications built with proper architecture from the start - services, jobs, queues, tests.
  • Refactoring messy or AI-generated sections into maintainable, production-grade code - incrementally, not a big rewrite.
  • Queue and performance hardening: Horizon, retries, dead-letter handling, N+1 queries, indexing, caching.
  • Security pass: auth, authorization, input validation, secret management, the gaps that are probably already there.
  • A testing harness that catches the regressions your team is currently afraid of.
  • Documented patterns so future development is faster and safer - for your team or the next developer.

How it works

Inputs · Process · Outputs.

Inputs

Repo access (or a clean slate for a new build), a live environment to read against, and honest answers about what you're trying to build or what's breaking.

Process

New build: clean architecture from day one, small reviewable PRs. Existing system: a focused audit first, then incremental refactor - critical areas first, tests and monitoring added as we go. Your team learns the patterns so it keeps improving after I step back.

Outputs

A Laravel system your team is confident changing - well-structured, tested where it counts, monitored. Fewer surprises, faster iterations, lower long-term risk.

Stack

What we'd actually use.

  • Laravel
  • Laravel Horizon
  • Laravel Pint
  • PHPStan / Larastan
  • Pest / PHPUnit
  • Sentry / Bugsnag
  • Redis
  • Database introspection / query analysis

Pricing

New build or improvement work from €3k (typically €3k–€8k). Architecture cleanup or AI-codebase modernization usually starts with a €1,200 fixed audit - one week reading the code, a written punch list you keep - then scoped from what it finds. Ongoing support available, never required.

Exact price depends on operational complexity and how involved you want me. Every engagement starts with a short async intake - no call required.

Operator perspective

Built by someone who actually runs the systems - not just builds them.

Fifteen years of Laravel and Magento in production - new builds, inherited founder codebases, and AI-generated messes. I know which architectures last and which refactors actually pay back.

  • Built and supported ecommerce operations for over a decade - Magento and custom Laravel.
  • Sold digital products and paid guides since 2014.
  • Run niche content businesses with my own SEO and writing.
  • Wrote and ran newsletter funnels that actually converted.
  • Built production automations for real operational workflows.
  • Architected and ran the full production platform for a real-estate business for five years as their outsourced technical operator.
  • Built custom operational tooling - pipelines, scheduling, daily workflows.

Recent work
